Chapter 11

We proceeded to go through the opening in the cave front of the mountain, it was very dark and spooky. Talon lit the thick branch to make a torch, so we could all see where we were going.

As the shadow from the torch crept along the wall, there were drawings of animals and people of different tribes dress differently. They had strange figures, some as pets and some large animals of all kinds.

“Who are these people?” I asked.

“Some have died long ago. Some still live here today,” Talon replied.

“Look over there, that looks like the sea serpent you were telling me about early. Unless that is, a very large snake.”

“It does look a bit like one. I’m not sure,” Talon said. “To be realistic, I have never seen one myself.”

I was looking at all the carvings on the rock. “This looks like a battle of all the tribes with solders. What is that in that picture over there?” I was very interested. “That is one evil person.”

“He has fire coming out of him, or is it a she?” Hali said as she pointed to a picture on the wall.

“It is neither, it is a demon.

“They talk with a very hollow voice that sounds as if they are talking through a tunnel. They are very dangerous and not to be messed with.”

“They are handsome in a way, with long black hair very smartly dressed. It looks more a man instead of a woman.” It wore a black long coat, black pants and waistcoat.

“The sorcerer looks very normal.” Talon looked at me very strangely. “But this sorcerer is very, very cunning. You would not like to come to entangle with one. They are very dangerous sorcerers and have a lot of tricks,” Talon said.

“Like a witch?”

“Yes, something like that.”

It made the hair on the back of Hali’s head stand up and cold shivers go down her spine.

“These pictures on the wall, are they telling a story of what has happened long ago, Talon?” He stopped to have a look at what I was looking at.

“Yes, that’s right.”

“How did they manage to carve the pictures out of the rock?” I could not stop asking.

“With swords, knifes weapons of all kinds.”

“What about the colours, where did they get different colours from?”

“Well, when you mix water with different colour stones. They crush the stone into dust. Then you would take different colour dust from the rock and mix the colour together. When you mix the colours together, that is how you get different colours…”

I looked across to him, with a strange look on my face and said, “I think I got that.”

“I don’t think I did really.”

Karnn came over to where we were. “I hear a lot of voices, it sounds as though it is coming from that direction.” Karnn interrupted the history lesson. “That would be the miners’ probably digging their way for riches.”

Talon could feel the emotion of past history as they were going through the cave. His mind seems to be somewhere else.
