She was busy running around the Foray game map as an opening act, but Teddy knew that she and her mods read the chat while playing. He saw Tina glance at another screen and look annoyed, though not much was happening in the game.

“I have nothing to say to you or your cheating cheater of a friend, TedSh0t,” she said. “And I don’t appreciate you trolling me about the world ending or whatever. Was your mom pretending to be ‘Agent Classified from the Classified Division,’ or did you hire an actress? Pathetic.”

Teddy winced. Why did everyone assume she was his mom?

“She thinks we’re playing a prank?” Stackz said.

“And what does she mean by ‘cheating cheater’? Did you cheat in the tournament?”

“Of course not! I’m hurt that you think I would need to or that I would do it.” Stackz scratched the back of his head. “But maybe I can see why she might think so.”

“Out with it,” Teddy said.

Stackz looked a little sheepish.

“So, the tournament was a scavenger hunt in Foray where you had to collect seven pieces of the MacGuffin while surviving and defending your base. Teeny and I each had three pieces, and I got to one just before she did, I promise. You can check my saved stream! Anyway, I got to the top of this tower, but I was being extra cautious, so I hid behind the pedestal that held the item. She walked up to collect it, and then she just stopped moving for a few seconds. So … I sniped her.”

“Rude, but not breaking any rules,” Teddy pointed out flatly.

“And then I collected the three pieces she dropped before they returned to their original positions.”

“Opportunistic, but also not cheating,” Teddy noted.

“They were right there! She would have done the same, if she were in my position.”

“I’m not sure she would have. See, that’s the problem. She must assume you were being scummy and ambushing other players rather than finding the pieces yourself. But that doesn’t make you a cheater.”

Teddy typed another message, hoping the mods hadn’t banned him.

TedSh0t: Stackz wants to apologize for whatever it is you’re blaming him for.
