CHAPTER TWELVE

To Give, You Have to Receive

“[And] Moses said to Israel: ‘And not with you alone do I establish this

our God, and also with those who are not here among us this day.’”

It turns out that I had to go inside to find most of my answers. From early on in my acquaintance with the healing energies, I had two concerns: one, that I couldn’t predict what someone’s response would be and therefore could make promises to no one; and, two, that I would have unpredictable highs and lows with respect to the energies that would last anywhere from hours to days to weeks, leaving me feeling more than a little lost and confused about my direction.

People would say, “Oh, you’re feeling down today, so the healings aren’t coming through.”

And I’d explain, “No, the healings aren’t coming through, and that’s why I’m feeling down.”

People did not seem to want to get this. I’m sure it went against some New Age aphorism or something . . . and I’m glad I don’t know which one. Whatever the case, what I did know was that I was feeling great while the healings were occurring, but when they would go into a low period, I’d feel abandoned and wonder if they were ever going to return. No one had any answers for me, not any real answers. So I would think back to the six channeled phrases. I knew the answers were in there somewhere.

At times like these, I often found my reassurance in the first phrase: We are here to tell you to continue doing what you are doing. So I continued. I knew it was the right thing to do, although it wasn’t as easy as it sounds. You see, it was one thing when it was working, but since this went against every concept of reality I’d ever had, it was another thing when it wasn’t. No one can question the wisdom of the path you’re on more penetratingly than you can. I became a bit more depressed, but I continued.

Eventually, the healings would start to gather strength again.

Still, these fluctuations in the energies coming through really bothered me. As we are all complex beings, and composed somewhat, at least on the surface, of seemingly contradictory aspects and traits, it should be clear by now that my predominant nature wasn’t to sit back and watch as things ran their own course. I was—and in many ways still am—a take-charge person. In other words, I wasn’t your basic que sera, sera kind of guy.

So imagine my surprise when I finally realized that for the healings to accelerate, I had to get out of the way and stop directing. I had to step back and let a Higher Power guide.

Who’s saying this? I thought. It can’t be me.

But it was true. Not only did the energy know where to go and what to do without
