I said it before and I’ll say it again, the grandparents legacy plan is my favorite. Located completely on the other end of the age planning spectrum lives a charitably leveraged plan where the older you are the greater the plan’s impact.

General Strategy Characteristics. The power of this plan is that it provides a strong countermeasure to accidental philanthropy for America’s most vulnerable group. The grandparent funds the CRAT. The CRAT funds the insurance policy insuring the life of the adult children (or children) for the benefit of the grandchildren. The insurance contract provides tax-free income to the adult children and a tax-free death benefit for the grandchildren. I cannot wait to show you the case studies in Part III.
