We also recommend tracking the number of times that readers click on outbound links. When readers click on links in your content, it suggests they trust your opinion and suggestions. This is a great measure of influence and brand loyalty.

Blogs fall into a unique position within social media metrics, because they are social media platforms in and of themselves, as well as great generators of social media conversations.
For the pure blog part of the equation, the standard metrics will apply. But you’ll also need to track comments in the blog itself, as well as any Twitter or Facebook mentions that might be made about the blog entry.
In order to get social media stats about your blog, it’s a good idea to include tools in the blog that will enable users to share your content on their social media networks. All of the major blog platforms (Blogger, WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla!) have plug-ins that easily enable such sharing.
