Posting to the Social Media Sites
As I mentioned at the beginning of this chapter, the main point of social media in terms of your business is to drive traffic to your blog. That means you will need to come up with several different hooks for each blog you post.
Let me show you what I mean. Let’s pretend you’ve written a blog post titled “5 Surprising Ways to Save on Your Taxes.” Here are some items you could post that include a link to the blog:
1. Use a question: “Which of these tax saving ideas would save YOU the most money?”
2. Describe the blog in the most enticing way possible. Ideally, try to use the phrase “my clients” as part of your post: “Here are the tax savings ideas that always surprise my clients.”
3. You can post one or two times with an actual quote from the blog: “The following five tax deductions save my average client about $1,000 a year.”
4. Post two or three of the five ways: “Most people forget they can write off their __________ and four other ways to save on your taxes.”
5. Use the phrase “Here’s a way to” and include the benefit you’re writing about: “Here’s a way to write off your vacation as a business trip.”
6. Show how your blog answers a question: “If you’ve ever had a question about _______, the answer is here.”
7. Let your followers know that your blog provides a definition or a description of something they want to know about. “If you’re curious about what ________ really means (and a lot of people are), read this.”
