I run a finger along the dust-covered countertop. I’m supposed to be listening to the contractor across the room as he spouts off measurements and details in a mixture of English and French, but I can’t stop thinking about everything that happened the day before with the twins.

Every time I close my eyes—every time I have a free moment for my mind to wander—I can picture the two of them, their toned, muscular arms wrapping around me as their mouths work their magic across my entire body.

A full-body shiver runs through me just thinking about it.

“Sir, are you listening?”

I turn my head to look at the burly Frenchman. His expression is a clear mixture of confusion and annoyance. And to be fair, I should be paying attention to him, especially since I basically insisted that he should come out here as soon as possible to give me a bid on the kitchen remodel.

“Hmm?” I ask reflexively, then shake my head as his scowl deepens. “I’m sorry. Oui, monsieur, I’m listening. You were about to give me the estimate on the new appliances we were talking about earlier, right?”

He gives me a hard look, and I’m pretty sure I’ve got at least half of my answer right. I’m certain we were talking about that stuff at some point, anyway.

“I was saying we can’t possibly discuss that until you decide on cabinets,” he says, turning away and muttering something in French that I’m quite certain is not a compliment on my listening skills.

Shit. Or, should I say, merde.

I’m staying on top of this renovation, despite my current slightly distracted state. I should probably try to get some results from the hours I’ve already spent with this particular contractor.

“Well, I still have several other contractors to speak with and several other bids to collect.” My sudden change in tone from uncertain to strictly business gets his attention, at least. I suppress a smile as his eyes narrow. Surely, he didn’t think I’d be automatically handing him a blank check. “So if you could give me your best estimate in writing by the end of the day today, that would be helpful.” I gesture to the binder near him that is bursting with plans I’ve drawn up. “Feel free to use the models I’ve indicated there, and we’ll negotiate anything that might need to be changed after that.”

He opens his mouth to speak and for a moment I’m afraid he’ll call my bluff or throw a fit or tell me that isn’t how things work here in France. But he doesn’t do any of those things. He doesn’t say a word, in fact, and finally closes his mouth again with an audible snap.

Satisfied that we’ve come to an understanding, I leave him to finish his measurements and his grumbling on his own.

I walk out of the kitchen, tempted to go find Logan or Jonathan—or both of them, preferably—but I’m sure they probably have work to do today, too.

And since they’re paying me for a full day of work, I should probably find something besides thoughts of sex to occupy my time.
