The light from the room above Daphne shuts off as soon as she is halfway down the ladder, as if triggered by her weight.

“What?!?” Daphne says without actually meaning to. She freezes for a moment. Should she keep going or head back up into the white room? Daphne sighs. It’s not like she has much of a choice. She needs to find an exit.

Daphne steels herself and continues down the ladder. She knows she has reached the bottom when her feet touch the floor beneath her. That’s the only indication, though. The room is so dark that Daphne can only navigate by touch.

But she isn’t about to stop now. She puts her hands out in front of her. She doesn’t feel anything, so she keeps walking. Then her fingertips feel something familiar. It’s a light switch.

CLICK.

Daphne’s shoulders droop when she sees the room around her.

The room is completely black. Only white light from the ceiling panel interrupts the otherwise jet black room. There’s no furniture, windows, or doors. Again.

“Really?” Daphne says. She’s more than a little annoyed. But she wastes no time, this time around. She walks across the room and shoves the wall. It doesn’t budge. So she heads to the next wall and pushes it. Nothing. She has the same luck with the third wall. It’s not until she shoves on the last one that anything happens.

Just like the room above, the wall slides forward. And once again, there’s a click. But the click isn’t a trapdoor opening in the white floor exposed by the moving wall. The click is coming from the wall itself this time. A doorknob pops forward from seemingly out of nowhere.

Daphne twists the knob and pushes the door forward.

She steps through the doorway without thinking about it.

It’s too late when Daphne realizes that she’s falling. The door leads to the outside, and a two-story drop to the backyard below. Daphne screams, but she barely has time. Her body is already splashing into a huge swimming pool.
