“Fuck,” he mutters, running a hand through his hair. “You can’t wear that in here.” I don’t understand the heat in his eyes at first. Not until I follow his gaze to my chest. I may have left a couple of buttons undone in rebellion. But a third has slipped out of its loop, revealing the lacey edge of my bra. Oops.

For the first time in two years, I feel as if I might have the reins.

“What’s wrong, Briggs?” I ask, batting my eyelashes innocently.

He scrubs a hand through his hair, his eyes darting to a duffle bag in the corner. He stalks to it, pulling out a blanket. “Here.”

“I’m not wearing a blanket.” I slowly strut toward him, well aware of the effect I’m having on my boss. Damn, I’ve waited for a long time to feel this way. For him not only to notice me as a woman, but to be tripped up by the very idea. “I’d rather walk around in my underwear.”

“Fuck,” he grumbles, shoving his hands into his pockets. As if he’s trying really hard to restrain himself. “Put the damn dress back on. But you’re wearing your coat over it.”

I spin back toward the private restroom.

“Ms. Nielsen?”

“You just feasted on my pussy like you haven’t eaten in a week,” I say, feeling a burst of confidence I’ve never felt around this man before. I like it. A lot. “Surely you can call me Jewel?” I slip into the bathroom, closing the door behind me before he can stutter out a response.

I’m surprised to find Briggs gone, mostly because I didn’t hear him leave. Any of number of reasons may have pulled the boss away from his desk and out to the field. I decide to take advantage of his absence and enact the next part of my plan.
