It became apparent to Delia she had much more pent-up frustration than either she or her friend knew about. The proof was in her apartment, which was shining by the time she stepped into the cab that would take her to her date. Not only had she scrubbed every surface within an inch of its life, she’s also done all her laundry – curtains and bedding included – as well as vacuumed all the floors and cleaned out her refrigerator.

And gave a good deal of consideration to going to BB’s apartment to do it all again.

Delia did her best to put everything to the back of her mind as the cab cruised across the city streets. She wanted to go on this date with a clear mind and a positive attitude. And, she thought as she pulled out her mirror, looking sexy as hell.

The outfit she’d chosen accomplished this part of the mission. An ice-blue cold shoulder top set off the cobalt in her eyes and the loose curls of her blonde hair. She’d chosen jewelry to match, with white pants and heels. The silver bag she carried finished the look.

After paying the driver, she stepped from the cab outside of the restaurant and sent up a quick little prayer for this date to go well. She didn’t know if she could handle another date gone wrong. Pulling herself tall, she strode through the door and searched for a face she might remember. She was still scanning the room when she heard her name being called.

“Delia.” She watched as a tall man, one bordering on lanky, approached her. His mossy green eyes smiled at her from behind a pair of dark-rimmed glasses. She studied the casual wave of his sandy brown hair, the three days worth of scruff on his face. His looks, combined with his fashion style – high tops and skinny jeans with a gray t-shirt topped by an open blue button-up shirt – left only one word coming to Delia’s mind.

Hipster.

Delia didn’t mind hipsters. She’d known a few, and they’d all been nice. Some were a little odd, but then again, the same could be said for anyone else.

“Hi, Steven.” Now that he was up close, Delia remembered his face and had a vague recollection of their conversation from the night before.

“Nice to see you again. I’ve got a table already, if you want to go sit down.”

“Sure.” She followed him through a half-empty dining room to where he’d been seated. Delia smiled at a couple at the next table over as she settled into her chair.

“Have you ever been here before?” Steven questioned as he picked up a menu.

“No, but I love Mediterranean food, so I’m good.” She shot Steven a smile before studying the menu. “You’ve been here before, I take it?”

“Yes, I love it here.”

“Anything you’d recommend then?”

“The tapas are excellent.”

“Okay. What do you say we each order a couple and we’ll mix-and-match?”

“Perfect.” Steven beamed, showing his teeth, straight and white.

Once they’d placed their orders, conversation seemed to pick up with little effort.
