âHuh? C-Could you repeat that?!â Yuuto blinked his eyes in surprise and asked Mitsuki for confirmation.
He had heard what she had said, but her statement was such a surprising one that he couldnât believe what heâd heard.
âOkay. Can we make it so Nozomu is recorded as being RÃfaâs son?â
â...Uh, are you serious?â Yuutoâs eyes darted around the room and he asked Mitsuki again with a befuddled expression.
It seemed he had heard it correctly, but that only confused him all the more.
The twins were now deeply precious to Yuuto. He felt he could do anything for them.
He wanted to teach his son about all of the experiences and knowledge he had acquired over the years, while as for his daughter, he could easily imagine him throwing hot tea and chasing off the man who came to ask for her hand in marriage.
Yuuto couldnât understand why Mitsuki would propose making one of those beloved children, at least in name, a child of another house.
âAh, yes, thatâs an excellent proposal.â
âKris?!â
As the girl clapped her hands together in agreement, Yuuto turned to her in surprise.
âI do think itâs a good idea, but surely it wouldnât work? Thereâs a problem with the dates,â Felicia, while indicating her agreement, noted her skepticism.
It was widely understood that it took ten months and ten days from conception to birth, but it was, in actuality, closer to two hundred and eighty daysâa little over nine months.
Barely a month had passed since heâd married RÃfa. There was simply no way that a child could be born in that time.
However, Kristina countered without missing a beat or so much as twitching a brow.
âAs for that, we can make use of Fatherâs reputation as a womanizer to make the timeline work. In terms of whether or not she was showing at the time of the wedding, if we delay the birth announcement by two months, it should work.â
âA-Ah, I agree.â
âF-Felicia?!â
Having even his most trusted adjutant nod in agreement, Yuuto couldnât help but voice his panic. He had suddenly found himself isolated and surrounded on all sides.
âMm, seems Father isnât in agreement with this proposal, but surely he understands just how useful this proposal would be politically.â
â...Legitimacy, right?â Yuuto made his distaste evident with a frown then spat out the reason.
Kristina nodded once.
âYes. Father, you donât have a drop of blood from the previous dynasty that ruled the Holy Ãsgarðr Empire. Your legitimacy as þjóðann stems from the fact that you are the husband of the previous þjóðann, Lady SigrdrÃfa, and that she gave the throne to you. Frankly, your claim to the throne is quite weak.â
âYouâre right.â
Yuuto nodded as well. He had no argument there.
âHowever, if Master Nozomu was born to Lady RÃfa, the previous þjóðann, and you, Father, the current þjóðann, then his claim to the throne would be unassailable.â
âWell, sure.â
Yuuto nodded again, though this time with a look of hesitation.
In all honesty, Yuuto had no desire to make his son the þjóðann. He had no desire to push such a troublesome, burdensome, and stressful job upon his beloved son.
