Prepare your treats for the inside

You can fill these little houses with anything you want—I filled mine with the same mints that I used to decorate them. Package them up in clear plastic treat bags tied with a ribbon.

Finish the houses

(Reference: Piping Techniques, here; Rolled Fondant, here)

FOR HOUSE #1:

1.

Lift the house (holding it by the body of the house, not the roof) onto your presentation board and position it as desired.

2.

With a piping bag fitted with a #18 (star) tip and filled with very thick white royal icing, pipe a shell border along the top of the roof seam (d).

3.

Switch the tip to a #10 round tip and pipe “snow” around the base to secure the house to the presentation board (e).

4.

Attach two mint candies at the front of the house on either side.

5.

Let dry overnight. Once everything is completely dry, remove the roof and place the candy bags inside.

6.

Package or display as desired.

FOR HOUSE #2:

1.

Lift the house (holding it by the body of the house, not the roof) onto your presentation board and position it as desired.

2.

Make a double rolled rope with white and red fondant (see rope instructions here), and attach along the roof seam with a small amount of brown royal icing. Trim off ends on either side with a sharp craft knife.

3.

With a piping bag fitted with a #10 round tip, pipe “snow” around the base to secure the house to the presentation board.

4.

Let dry overnight. Once everything is completely dry, remove the roof and place the candy bags inside.

5.

Package or display as desired.
