Anchored on Abandon River

Creaking oars quicken. River sun

sinks into azure distances. There’s

stillness in my wandering. Tides

drift east and west, day and night.

A Spring Day

I gaze into moss at my brushwood gate, rainwater radiant,

then wander through spring, blossoms crowding branches

everywhere. People travel distant roads and never arrive,

but all day here, birds in song leave and come back again.

.

Just to Say

I close my gate, wanting to end grief,

but grief won’t go away. Then spring
