In an interview employers can ask you anything they want. It’s important you are PREPARED and READY for whatever you will be asked and that you have answers. You should think of this as being like a rolodex of information you are going to sift through at speed and give the right answers.
Review
At this stage I would stop and think about the answers you would give at an interview to the above questions. You need to be clear about how you would answer the questions. You could write out the answers in full, although I would just make notes on what you’d say and how you would say it. Sometimes if you learn what you’ve written down it sounds stiff or fake and that’s what you want to avoid.
**NOTE** A key thing to remember is that as well as preparing your answers you need to PRACTISE them. The problem with interviews is that we don’t do them often and in the end it is down to your PERFORMANCE. Consider this. If you were the leading actor in a West End or Broadway show you wouldn’t just turn up on the opening night and give the performance of a lifetime. Before the public performance, you would have rehearsed it time and time again. You would have worked out what went wrong and how you could improve in order to get it right on the night.
They say that practice is the master of skill. The more practice you have, the more chance you have of spotting mistakes and errors you make. If you can iron them out at this stage there’s less chance you will make them at the real event.
If you want to perform better at interview make sure you have REHEARSED it not only to yourself but to other people. See if they like your answers and refine them if they don’t. By tweaking them you will be able to give a better performance and hopefully get the job you want.
