Another type of circulation involves the kidneys. It’s called renal circulation. “Renal” means having to do with the kidneys. Renal circulation is a part of systemic circulation. Oxygen-rich blood enters the kidneys through the renal arteries. These arteries branch out into capillaries, which take the blood to the parts of the kidneys that filter out waste products. Waste products come from the natural breakdown of tissues and from food. The kidneys send the waste to the bladder in the form of urine. The “clean” blood then returns to the heart.
