8.5.1 Upper body
Lower trapezius
Start: Face down on a bench or bed with your head on your left fist. Your right arm is bent and your right hand is in front of your head with the thumb pointing up. Your shoulder blades are tucked up and inward.
End: Raise your right elbow and forearm one to two inches up and hold it there for five seconds. Perform twelve to fifteen repetitions.
Progression: Straighten your arm and perform the same movement. You can add resistance with weights in your hand once you can do the straight-arm version easily.
What you should feel: A tight contraction in the middle of your back near the spine.
