While placing the prepped bacon and egg bags on a cooking grate over the fire is easiest, there is something special about letting your child use a stick to hold the bag over the fire and cook for themselves. Yes, you run a risk of the bag catching on fire. But the risk is low as long as the fire has burned down to hot coals and there are no open flames. The stick can also be propped up to hang at a fixed height over the fire as well if a cooking grate is not available.

Letting your kids prep their own bags is a critical part of the process. Consider having a few other ingredients on the table such as chopped peppers and onions. Cheese is also a great topping. Sprinkle it on after the cooking is done or it will burn.
