Creating Your Own Spreads

After you know what the cards mean and have experimented with a number of different layouts, you can feel free to design your own spreads. A spread is like a blueprint of the reading you are going to do; through its pattern, you build the reading. You can include as many or as few cards as you like in a spread. You can expand on standard layouts, or you can design a completely original layout pattern. You are limited only by your imagination.

An example of an expansion of a pre-existing layout, the three-card spread can be expanded into a nine-card spread by using three layers of three cards each and designating each layer as past, present, or future.
