The plans reveal tight planning but the garage sensibly accommodates utility, power unit and bike storage, although the utility space and comfort level is small. Storage is provided under the stairs (dogleg so that’s good) for coats and shoes but it is still a little cramped. Bedrooms have excellent amount of space, and there is a study on the top floor, although as I have said before workspaces need to be on the ground floor as part of the general hub of our shared digital communication era. The upper floors will feel the impact of the sloping walls but not to any great detriment. The main disappointment is to follow the trend of lumping the kitchen, dining and lounge into one space. It may work in a large open-planned space where people are not on top of each other in their separate activities, but in this confined space irritation will be felt by the occupants. The designers have shied away from laying out a dining table and chairs plus more lounge seating for watching TV for example. Lastly, the lack of general storage is my main criticism although I can see the garage taking some of the share of that facility.
