This needle is used on the superficial layers. It arouses Yang Qi and stimulates wei qi to release exterior pathogenic factors.

The technique is like chiseling forward, moving one way continually deeper as the needle is pushed along the body.

The needle is used for the muscle (sinew) channels. It is effective when cold causes a binding of the channels. It can treat cold in the joints. It is effective in releasing pathogens influencing the Lungs.
