I pinch the bridge of my nose, tired of the people in this room bickering. I get it, Xavier, Blade, and Julian want their mate back. But for the love of all things, if they question me again, I’ll decapitate them. Problem solved.

Except, Lucifer seems particularly invested in Catarina’s wellbeing. I doubt he’ll appreciate me killing her mates, given it will also weaken her.

“Tell us what you said again?” Xavier demands, and I barely restrain my desire to break his jaw.

“She’s in my father’s dungeon. I had to bribe a few of the money-driven guards, but eventually, I discovered her location. You were right. He does have her, and as far as I can tell, it’s because of her mother. From what I’ve gathered, the Supers her mother killed were a part of the Hell Rebellion, and her sacrifice set my father back ten years,” I tell Lucifer, as he paces his office in Hell.

“Mmm. Her rescue will require some assistance. I can’t have you do this, it’s too risky. I would never make it onto his property without alerting him to the fact that I’m on to him. However,” Lucifer pats his chin, turning to Catarina’s mates. “If I acquire the assistance of a trusted friend who has cultivated a reputation of indifference, despite his loyalty to me, we could send him in as a hired hand.”

“Who?” the Fae demands, and Lucifer smirks.

“Leviathan,” Lucifer says, fire lighting his eyes as his smirk morphs into a devious smile.

After that, Lucifer discusses his plan to not only contact his old friend but to free the Succubus from my father’s dungeon. The idea is that Catarina’s mates contact Leviathan and offer payment in exchange for the safe retrieval of the Succubus.

The Prince of Envy is known for taking jobs in exchange for either gifts or money, so my father won’t suspect either myself or Lucifer. Hopefully.

I sigh. My father, the Prince of Wrath and leader of the Hell Rebellion. He’s been jealous of Lucifer since his creation and has finally amassed a large enough following to attempt a takeover.

I’m almost certain that my brother’s death is somehow connected to my father and Lilith. When the time is right, I’ll be the one to end my father. He’ll pay for what he’s done, and because my brother is dead, I will become the Prince of Wrath.

What would my life be like if my brother hadn’t been killed? I wouldn’t be working with Lucifer to bring down a rebellion as his guy on the inside. My life wouldn’t be in danger constantly. And I might not have Lucinda in my life. She would have attended the Academy even if Anika hadn’t died, but I wouldn’t have been such an asshole to her if I hadn’t thought she had something to do with Tanor…

Fuck.

I shake off the shitty thoughts and head back to the Academy, having been in Hell for a few hours, but only a few minutes in the Earth Realm.

As soon as I step foot in my room, I hear Bianca’s snide voice and cringe.
