A massive clear wall lifted up like a wave over them. It wasn’t a perfect circle, but the magic protected all of them. But would it last?

“Fuck, fuck. Fuckity, fuck,” Piper whispered as the demons charged. Their movements slowed when they got close to the shield.

“What song that?” Cheetah girl asked. Her eyebrows were high.

Piper shrugged. “It’s not. It’s a nervous chant.”

“Is that Earth thing? I can tell you isn’t from here. You smell different and you too nice.”

The first blast of lava came immediately. The heat was excruciating, but the shield held. “Praise the Lucifer! It held,” one of the fire boys yelled.

Piper gripped her sword tighter. She was going to stay human until she was sure the telekinesis wouldn’t work either. She glanced at Cheetah. This was a weird time to chat, but Piper responded anyway. “Kind of, not everyone likes to say fuck on earth though.”

She smiled. “So, it’s a rebel thing on Earth. Good chant.” She raised her weapon in the air, “Fuckity fuck!” she shouted like a war cry. Piper snorted but raised her weapon too. The others followed, making the two groups more cautious, but pissed off. A few hissed at them.

Lava-girl roared in anger. The others took the challenge seriously and threw their powers at the shield. The air sizzled in front of her group.

“The shield won’t hold against that forever,” Serena yelled, holding onto Piper’s hand. They were cold and clammy.

Piper growled. They were too far away for an attack without leaving the safety of the shield. “Fire boys blast them. Make them come to us, not their magic.” She didn’t even have time to speak full sentences.

Their powers hit over and over, but at least their magic could go through the shield. Fire exploded from above her, causing the groups to scatter and move closer to them. Magic was great but unless they’re extremely powerful, it didn’t work long distances. The fact the fire boys could shoot from their distance was amazing in itself.

A hand came through the barrier. “We cross the magic,” a booming voice said from one of the other groups.

“They’re coming, don’t let them get fully through. Cut off limbs. Fire boys, try to stop the magic users from getting in the shield.” Piper took a deep breath. She was so grateful for the spell that let her mind gain all this knowledge. The pain was worth it. She knew exactly what to do.

Good thing too because Reddy and Cheetah got twitchy, and their eyes kept moving like they were panicking or getting ready to run. Their eyes were wide in terror. Their bodies were frozen. Piper smacked them both in the face to get their heads back in the game. They were close.

“Get your asses moving. Don’t give these fuckers an inch. We can do this. Do you hear me?” Piper yelled. The explosions and screams were almost too much to handle.

“Yes, Miss Satan,” they both said in unison like they were the perfect soldiers. That was an Underworld name reserved for someone that deserved respect.
