Chapter 7

OLYMPUS MONS

The other Martian Masters lifted off the surface before us and headed out in different directions. I started our liftoff procedure and we slowly lifted off the ground.

Red dust kicked up, and then we were high enough above the surface that the dust cleared and we had a sweeping view of the Martian terrain. Yuna pointed to the screen. A small icon showed our ship’s location. There were several other icons headed off in different directions to show where the other ships were going. We seemed to be the only ones headed to Olympus Mons.

“Olympus Mons is three times higher than Mount Everest on Earth,” Mom said.

“We should check out the caldera!” Raj exclaimed. “It’s located at the top of the volcano. It’s a series of about six circular holes. They look like dents or rings on the top.”

I steered us toward the caldera of Olympus Mons. “Here we go!”
