Suddenly Dr. Jackson bursts out of the tent and runs across the campsite.

“What’s she doing?”

“I don’t know!”

“She’s doomed!”

Dr. Jackson hears her friends, but she ignores their warnings. She’s willing to brave any danger. She sees her dream treasure.

Dr. Jackson runs to the mound covered with the tarp. She skids to a stop and lifts the corner of the canvas. Glittering gold sparkles in the sun.

“This is from my underwater temple! This is from Atlantis!” Dr. Jackson proclaims. “Someone is stealing my artifacts!”

“Do you think it could be art smugglers?” Velma wonders.

“Zoinks! Do you think they could come back?” Shaggy worries.

“Wait a minute. This stuff looks funny,” Velma says.

“Shaggy’s right. The bad guys could come back. Let’s get out of here,” Daphne agrees.

“No! This is a clue,” Velma says and studies an artifact in her hands. Then she glares at Dr. Jackson. “This artifact is a fake!”

“Whaaat?!” Dr. Jackson gasps.

“There isn’t any corrosion or coral growth on this object. It hasn’t been underwater. It has to be new,” Velma declares. “That means the temple is new, too. It’s a fake.”

“Well, I wouldn’t make it up! That would ruin my whole career!” Danielle protests.

“Then the only other explanation is that a rival set you up,” Fred concludes. “Someone wanted you to look bad.”

“No! I didn’t want to ruin her, I wanted to help her!” a voice declares.

Dr. Jackson and the gang turn to see a man backed up by the people from the speedboat.

“I care for Danielle,” he says. “And I just wanted to make her wish come true.”

“Sam? Sam Carter?” Dr. Jackson gasps when she sees him. “I was trying to prove the existence of Atlantis and you faked it? That isn’t helping.”

“I’m sorry,” Sam replies. “I faked the artifacts, but the temple is real.”
