THIRD DEATH LINKED TO ‘BAD’ ECSTASY PILLS by Stacey Logan

A third person has died ingesting what police fear is a potentially fatal batch of ecstasy being peddled on the streets of South and Mid Wales. Police believe the death of John Williams, 22, from Llandrindod Wells, is linked with the death of two others in Powys, including his girlfriend, Izzy Evans. The pills have also been linked to incidents in Swansea and Cardiff.

In an ongoing operation, a large quantity of distinctive pills were recovered from a rural property being used as a manufacturing base. In an unusual move, police are offering a temporary amnesty to anyone in possession of these pills so they are able to hand them in without fear of prosecution. DI James said: ‘These drugs are potentially so dangerous it is imperative we remove them from our streets. Anyone who has pills bearing the distinctive “5c” mark is warned they could be fatal and officers will not press charges against anyone surrendering them at any police station.’

Deaths from similar designer drugs, as well as legal highs, have been climbing steadily over the last few years. Anyone with any information should contact their local police.
