Emperor Kangxi in the Dragon Robe
The dragon robe is named after the dragon pattern on the robe which was worn by the emperor in attending ceremonies in ancient times. It is marked by the round collars, left front overlapping right front, and the yellow color. Kangxi (May 4, 1654–December 20, 1722) was the fourth emperor of the Qing Dynasty. He ascended the throne at eight and began to handle state affairs at 14. Being the emperor for 61 years, he was the emperor of the longest royal service in the history of China. Kangxi defended unified China from multi-ethnic groups and laid the foundation for the prosperity of the Qing Dynasty, having created a grand situation of thriving times under himself and Emperor Qianlong.
