Times have changed. The demands on individuals and families have increased in terms of the work required and the money needed to live a middle-class life. Resources, both human and financial, are spread thin, and this affects the church. Tithes and offerings alone, like single paychecks in the past, are no longer enough to provide for a church’s needs and wants.

It is natural to plant churches where growth potential exists. But doing so keeps people in the most poverty-stricken areas of our cities disenfranchised from the help and hope they so desperately need. Pastors, planters, denominations, and networks must reexamine motives and methods.
