INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CELTIC CROSS SPREAD

The Celtic Cross is a very useful general Spread which can be used without any specific question being asked. If a Majority should appear in this Spread, then the whole Spread should be read in the light of that Majority. If no Majority appears, then the Spread should be read generally and in reference to the meaning assigned to each card placement by the Spread pattern, i.e. card number 9, ‘Hopes & Fears’ and so on.

Lay out the cards as follows:

Find the Significator and place it in a central position.

Overlay the Significator with a single card. This is card number 1.

Place a second card horizontally over card number 1. This is card number 2.

Deal four further cards round the central group to form a cross, beginning with card number 3 at the top and proceeding in an anti-clockwise direction, i.e. card number 4 on the left, card number 5 at the bottom and card number 6 on the right.

Deal four further cards in a vertical line to the right of the central group, beginning with card number 7 at the bottom, and ending with card number 10 at the top.
