What Women Who Made It Say
Young female founders know how it has done: They have created companies out of nothing successfully in the market. In an interview with the German Huffington Post, they advise women who want to pursue a career, among other things, to strengthen networking and employ mentors - and explain why it is sometimes better for your job if you do not even know what you are getting yourself into.
Tijen O from the Women network advises women to make themselves visible and work on a self-marketing strategy that clarifies what they stand for. Whether via your blog, via social media, or in networks such as Xing or LinkedIn, anyone who establishes themselves as an expert on a topic automatically has an excellent professional standing.
Güncem C advises women to approach career planning strategically. "The job depends on other things than just hard work," says the superwoman. Endless overtime does not get anyone any further - networking skills and soft skills such as empathy and listening are much more critical. Güncem advises every woman to listen to herself: What are her strengths and weaknesses? On this basis, she should find a mentor to work with her on her development. "That would certainly have helped me in the first few years. That's why I like to support young women in their jobs."
Ida T is one of the few women who have ventured into the health tech industry. She wants to break down gender biases in the startup industry and pave the way for other women to get there. "No woman should ever hesitate to ask for help. Only if we support each other in our endeavors will women become stronger and will assert themselves - regardless of the industry, "says Ida. The ideas or yourself do not have to be perfect. The main thing is to start. "Not knowing what you're getting into at the beginning of your career is a great gift."
Christina B and her husband founded the Shiftschool in 2016, Germany's first academy for digital transformation. For them, the essential prerequisite for a successful career is the ability to take on responsibility in the job and work through topics from A to Z. âIt is precious when the boss can rely on employees who are responsible for something to make decisions themselves and to stand by them. Then the boss can delegate with a clear conscience,â says Christina. But it is also essential for a career to learn to believe in yourself and to trust yourself. Reflecting on the challenges you have already mastered in your life gives you strength. "Tell yourself: I can do this; I've already done completely different things."
Antonia A developed the Careship company and her brother and said: Women must not allow themselves to be dissuaded from their path and dreams - and not from anyone. âThe eagerness to jump into the deep end, and also to take risks and to work with incomplete information has brought me a long way in my career.â In her opinion, women should trust themselves more and learn to sell themselves well.
