Hermanos was a little disappointed there was no reward, not even a hug for his victory at the dueling grounds. He was also a bit disappointed in himself for being frustrated about that because he knew he shouldn’t want to get entangled with Sasha again. As appealing as being physically entangled with her could be. They stepped onto the ship. “Welcome to the Your Debt My Gain. It’s the largest six-compartment cargo hauler and has been modified to withstand most endgame threats. I hope it can be our base of operations for this little mission.“

Protea sniffed. “I expected it to be fancier. You are a collector, after all.”

After some quick typing Minc’s speaker projected one simple word. “Cool.”

A giant green combat unit in a pink skirt/tuxedo top combo jumped into the entry area from one of the halls causing Minc and Protea to jump. “The party is in the crew lounge if you just follow me!” It announced in its asexual nails on a chalkboard voice. Soon after getting it’s new body, Angel had started wearing hideously mismatched clothing. Hermanos had no idea where it had found the inspiration or the outfits, but suspected Sasha was to blame.

“That is Angel, my top-ranked maintenance and organizational AI.”

The lounge was decked out in a way it had never been before. There were streamers and a banner saying “Welcome”. Trays of cupcakes and finger sandwiches as well as a fully stocked bar set up. Angel, of course, had done this all unasked, while Sasha and the Gambler were away picking up the new members of the team. Angel’s owner considered protesting the effort but gave up since there was no point.

The four of them ended up sitting at the table that had balloons on the tablecloth. Hermanos noticed Sasha was remarkably quiet because she was suppressing mirth at the scene.

Protea sipped her drink. “This isn’t what I was expecting when I agreed to this.”
