teamed up, steamed up, wild boys on the prowl

in 450 HP Fords customized, flamed, tuck and roll

interiors, Tijuana special header plugs so bright

you could shave peach fuzz from seventeen-year-old cheeks in them.

We were bad boys, really bad boys, hungry for the goose

bump high of bare thighs in the backseat

at 85 MPH burning down Highway 99 to taste the night

dark burn of rubber, diesel, the temptation of angels.

We were bad boys, really bad boys crashing in after curfew

lipstick T-shirt bloody from the mouth wars, smelling of Marlboros

Budweiser, gasoline, jeans dirt covered from wrestling

on the riverbank with girls from Selma who drank milk

in their Bud thinking they wouldn’t get high.

We were bad boys, really bad boys, cruising, stumbling

retching stone-aching bad boys, virgin forever
