Rods From The Gods
Jimo One
Maggs and Dixon laid down cover fire for Mason, along with several Samgji pilots and a giant wave of drones. After they made a strong enough opening, they split off into two different directions. Mason ramped up to a ridiculous speed as he approached the main ship. Jr. began praying with all of his might.
âTime for a little play-action,â Dixon said. âDownâsetâhike!â
Maggs rushed pass Dixon like a quarterback faking the handoff to a running back. Dixon drew some of the fire away as he banked right, leaving a small window of opportunity for Mason, who came blazing through the line, barely banking in time to avoid a massive crash against the enormous ship. He pulled the plane into a Herbst maneuver alongside the belly of the beast, rolling his position just enough so that his plane would be pointing a slightly different direction once he cleared the back of the ship. All along the way, he had Jr. firing close range blasters to take out an outgoing group of jips from the side of the vessel. Though Dixon was glad to see his brother staying alive, he couldnât help but feel the money leaving his pocket. Mason was not only making bank but had timed his maneuver well, as a group of enemy ships was targeting his trajectory, coming off the back of the ship so as not to cause damage to their own. Not only did they come up empty on their firing, but they had remained distracted long enough for Dixon to swing through and test out a new type of blaster that launched three succinct blasts at each target making for a much higher percentage shot. Feeling pretty good about the accuracy and speed of the newly found weapon, Dixon made an inverted pass at another wave of ships to try and help balance out his rising debt to Mason.
âGood work,â Trek said. âWe got a full readout that Iâm sending to your screens now. The wall against the back of the hangars that the ships are coming out of is a barrier for the core system that fuels the electrical storms.â
âSo we go back in and blast the core system, and it blows up like the death star?â Dixon asked.
âI donât know about blowing up any stars, but it is not that simple. The rest of the ship is shielded from the electrical core just in case of an explosion. However, if we can re-surge the energy back throughout the ship, we can completely short it out and follow that up with our primary cannons from the defense systems.â
âOk, so how do we do that?â Mason asked.
âThat is the difficult part. We have weapons that are designed to shoot what we call a leech on any major system. The leech allows us to use the electrical system as a bypass into the framework. From there, we can override the system code and force it to surge the power.â
âYou lost me,â said Dixon. âWhat do we do?â
âYou shoot the leech devices onto the barrier wall.
