CLINTON TO JACK

I’m a mama’s boy, Jack. Always have been. Always will be.

I’m not a dumb man. I know that when Mom speaks, it’s best I listen.

I didn’t want to listen this time, though.

So I told her what she wanted to hear, that I’d break things off with Rosemary, but the reality of it was, we continued to see each other behind Mom’s back.

Now, I should have known better.

Moms have this sixth sense about them. They know when their sons are lying to them. Mine sure did.

I’d like to think it took her a bit, but she probably knew right away I was lying to her, but wanted to give me a chance to prove her wrong.

You probably want to know what happened, don’t you?

It’s not a story I like to tell. It’s probably the only story I wish I could forget.
