The Emporium seemed much bigger than Hannah had expected.

First, Avril led Hannah into his Observatory – a room with an enormous telescope, with walls that were made of glass. Although Hannah’s watch told her that it was still early, a starry sky appeared behind the Observatory’s walls.

Next, Avril took her to his Library. The afternoon sun shone through its giant windows, and shelves of books towered above them. Tropical plants lined its walls, and a river of giant fish meandered across the floor.

“The Library’s the smartest room in the Emporium,” Avril explained, “because it has schools of fish.”

While Avril laughed at his own joke, Hannah rolled her eyes.

One room had plants that were created from candy, another had a maze with diamond walls. One chamber had a forest that was made of ice, and another was filled with giant butterflies.
