Harmony

Staying angry with Keillor was really hard. Maybe it was because of the make-up sex last night. That had been nice, but it felt wrong to forgive him so easily so I held onto whatever anger I could, even if it wanted to slip away. My sore muscles made it tougher as my body reminded me of the fun that we had last night fucking. I stretched slowly on the bed, the furs soft against my skin.

Keillor was digging through the trunk at the foot of the bed, already up and ready to go. He pulled out what passed as a shirt and pulled it over him, though it left most of his expansive chest bare. I wasn’t complaining. Though I wouldn’t say as much.

“Today, you’ll be learning how women work,” he said, not looking my way. “Mortyrians live off the land. We have respect for every living creature, the animals, the plants, the air, the water.” I rolled my eyes as he spoke, remembering the way they ‘respected’ their Eshvaks. He continued without noticing, “Everything. We grow and hunt what we need to sustain ourselves and ask for nothing more.” He waved a hand around. “Our homes are made by our hands.”

“And you get around by horse, not car.”

He frowned, confused. “Yes, horses. I do not know what kind of creature a car is.”

“Not a creature, a man-made creation.”

“Right. Sounds like something we do not need.”

“You would get around faster.”

Keillor smirked, clearly amused by something. “You have not seen how fast our horses can go.”

“Right.” I eyed him warily, wondering what he was thinking. I could probably ask him, but I wasn’t sure if he’d answer or not. Apparently, the man I got to know last night was not there this morning. I inwardly sighed, hating that I’d have to coax that man back out again. I liked that man. He talked to me. This man just ordered me about.

He straightened. “Get dressed and I will introduce you to your new life. You’ll learn how to care for the land and animals.” See?

I moaned, climbing to my feet. I stretched my arms up, putting my whole body on display. Maybe if I distracted him enough, he’d forget to put me to work.

His heated gaze traveled up and down my body. Good, the fun Keillor was still in there. I bit back a smile, loving how I affected him. Instead of coming at me like I hoped though, he kept his hunger under control and tossed me some clothes. I ran my thumb over the soft fabric, not sure how I felt about wearing it. The women were almost as big as the men here, so none of the clothes were going to fit me right.

I pulled up the cloth used as underwear and tied it at my side before pulling up the skirt and trying to tie it off so that it’d stay. I’d rather not be walking and have the damn thing fall around my feet.

Keillor chuckled as he came closer.
