Sloan Dean gave us a true example of utilizing EI and the tips we’ve just discussed:

I have a webcast every week for the associates that are working and then a separate one for the furloughed associates. I had my furloughed webcast on Tuesday, and we ended up going two hours. It was an hour webcast, and then we stayed, me, the COO, and the head of HR. We answered over a hundred questions for an hour. It didn’t solve a lot of people’s problems, but it showed a willingness to continue to communicate…so I think it just comes down to transparency and constant communication…communicate [the tough decisions that had to be made].
