Chapter 11

Tabby

Today, we’re blessed with beautiful weather, though Arkin’s permafrown is ruining it. I’m unsure what news the other Hordesman delivered or what happened between Arkin and Leah while I fetched the list of invites. I did notice he held her wrist, which didn’t sit well with me. I don’t really want him touching another Omega with his bare hands. He ought to wear his gloves. Where are those things?

I tsk at myself for even thinking such things about Leah. I’ve known her for the better part of this year, and she’s the only person who seems to care. Even her mom is generous and kind, sometimes sending me food, probably because she feels sorry for me.

Arkin glares, but I keep my gaze on his chest and listen to the other Hordesman swim laps in my pool.

“Omega,” Arkin says.

My eyes lock with his.

“I recognize some of these names. Very influential people in very high places.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

“How is it that you know all of them?”

I swallow. “I don’t really know them know them. But money buys me access to this kind of crowd.”

“I’m a little sad we can’t have your birthday party so I can gather them all up and feed the hounds.”

“That’s a shitty party.”

Arkin grunts and passes me the holo with the list. “Read the names to me and tell me which of those invites are in the immediate vicinity.”

My hands shake as I take the holo. “Yes, Alpha,” I whisper. Oh God, he’s gonna kill me.

“Sotay!” he shouts.

I nearly jump out of my skin.

Arkin begins pacing, cracking his neck as he walks back and forth. His dick is, I believe, in a permanently aroused state, and the sight of it warms my body. My pussy clenches, and I press my thighs together. My mind can’t control my body. Around Arkin, I have no control. This scares me.

Dripping wet, Sotay walks into the den. He swam in his clothes, so that’s a relief. At the door, he swings his blond braid and wrings it out. “You called, dear?”

“I’m not in a funny mood,” Arkin says. “Tabby. The names and locations. Give it to him.” Arkin leaves, and I hear the water running in the kitchen. When he returns, he’s got a bucket and a coffee cup. Bending, he waters my plants.

“I want Travis dead,” I blurt.

Arkin plucks dead leaves but doesn’t reply.

“Names,” Sotay orders.

I nod and approach him so I can share the holo screen and point at the list. “Dr. John Hollywood.” I point at his name. “That’s the plastic surgeon. Can’t remember his clinic’s name, but it’s the only one in the business district right outside the new Stronghold walls.”

Arkin appears next to me, his rattle loud and clearly not a purr.

Sotay swipes though the holo with his claw. “You’ll give yourself an aneurism, cuz. Let me work here.”

Arkin mumbles something in Rahkan.

Sotay smirks. “Go on, Omega.”

And so I do. I point out everyone I know with a residence in San Diego and some I know who are on vacation in other states.
