It was a lucky guess.

But here’s the strange part. He told his whole life story, but he never mentioned his first wife or his brother Elliott. Their stories were too painful for him. But we’ll get to Elliott later.

Obviously, TR cared a lot about reading and writing. He cared so much, he even tried to change the English language.

When you think about it, English is a weird language. Teachers always tell you to “sound it out,” but a lot of word spellings just don’t make any sense. Like the word tough. Why is it spelled T-O-U-G-H? Wouldn’t it be easier for everybody if it was spelled T-U-F-F?
