4.4.2 Socio-epistemic requirements

According to the cognitive interest of TA, its socio-epistemic nature, and the conceptual dimensions of anticipation, inclusion, and system thinking, two sets of requirements must simultaneously be fulfilled in conducting the assessment:25

(1) The epistemic quality of the TA process and of its results must be ensured according to familiar criteria of sound argumentation, the consistency of theories used, and the validity of data.

(2) The social legitimization of the process and its results must be ensured according to familiar criteria of discourse ethics, such as fairness, equity, transparency, and unbiasedness.
