Chapter 35

MC woke up with an incredible headache. He shook his head but not for long as this only made it worse. He was also incredibly cold. He opened his eyes and immediately wondered why he was in woodland with no clothes on. He sat up and looked around. All he could see were rocks, trees and shrubs as far as the eye could see. He jumped to his feet and immediately regretted the sudden movement as his bruised body screamed in agony. What the fuck had happened to him? Christ, he needed a line right now.

He looked around at the spot he had woken up in, as if his jacket might be there somewhere with his trusty box of drugs concealed within. But there was nothing there and he knew it. It was just an involuntary reflex. A sense of how exposed he felt washed over him. He had no weapon, drugs or phone as well as no clothes and without these essential items he didn’t know what to do. He became conscious of how much he was shaking. The question of whether the shaking was due to withdrawal symptoms or just the cold didn’t enter MC’s head.

MC knew he had to move as there really was nothing else to do. He got up and walked a few steps, dropping down a steep bank to a lower level. He cursed his lack of footwear as he slipped twice, landing on his backside both times. A few steps further on and MC thought he could see a gap between the trees above him. The strip of sky was fairly straight which led MC to conclude it was manmade and a track of some sort would therefore be below. He found the track and walked to the right for no particular reason as he had no idea what lay in either direction.

As he walked he wondered how he got here and as time passed his anger grew. There was only one person who could have set this up and that was Dodge. A thousand thoughts go through his mind. The clever bastard must have spiked his drink and dumped him out here. He wondered what he was doing right now. Probably already in the process of taking MC’s patch over. He bet no-one was resisting given Dodge’s size. Or maybe he had got to them before and had been gathering his mutineers, waiting for the moment to strike. If he had two or three of the others behind him it would make seizing all of the assets much easier.

But one thing was playing on MC’s mind. Why dump him here in this way without tying him up or injuring him? It made sense not to kill him. The aggravation would not be worth it and Dodge had never taken anything that far before. Having said that he had done some pretty bad shit in the past and the trouble Dodge had taken to bring him out here, presumably with no-one knowing, meant they could have easily disposed of his corpse.
