BREAK OF DAWN

While the beloved Bloody Mary is already bursting with flavor, Break of Dawn throws in a few more for good measure. Earthy beets, sweet carrots, and spicy ginger make for a slightly lighter Bloody with fresh-from-the-garden taste. As you enjoy, delight in some downtime, and share a sip with the sun.

INGREDIENTS

Coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper, for rim

2 ounces tomato juice

1½ ounces vodka

1 ounce beet juice

½ ounce carrot juice

2 dashes of hot sauce

¼ ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice

¼ teaspoon ground ginger

Garnish

Pickled beets

TECHNIQUE

Rim a highball glass with a mixture of coarse salt and ground black pepper (3 parts salt to 1 part pepper). Shake the tomato juice, vodka, beet juice, carrot juice, hot sauce, lemon juice, and ground ginger with ice for several seconds, until chilled. Strain into the rimmed highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with the pickled beets.
