Chapter 7:
Prepare Your Body
Certainly, youâve heard the expression, âthe body is a temple,â and if this is the first time youâve heard it, the meaning is still pretty clear. Treat your body like a temple. As you prepare for your tantric sex experience, this is the rule you will follow.
Prepare your body for your tantric experience by honoring it as a temple. Brush your teeth after taking a hot shower. Groom yourself in ways you know you like, or that your partner likes. Deliberately incorporate things that will stimulate the senses in a very positive way. The sense of smell is possibly our strongest connection to memory. The olfactory system is a powerful subconscious stimulator. Use this to your benefit. Consider applying scents to your temple that are reminiscent of vanilla, rose, jasmine, lavender, white gardenia, orange, citrus, lemongrass, spice, ginger, or just the smell of cleanliness and freshness from soap. These are the scents males tend to be aroused by. Women have an even keener sense of smell than men, so if your partner is a female, consider scents like citrus and spice, musk, sandalwood, rosewood, patchouli, or again, just the fresh and clean smell that comes with stepping out of the shower. Donât go overboard though, or you may create an unpleasant and distracting effect. Give attention to the sensation of touch.
The clothing you wear for your tantric experience should be wonderful to touch and feel on your own skin- luxurious and opulent, such as is worthy of a temple. This clothing should also be loose and comfortable, and simple and easy to remove. Many couples opt for a completely naked experience. Consider preparing your temple to be pleasing to your partnerâs sight. Wear clothing that is appealing as well as comfortable. Leave the sweatpants and t-shirt for another night and go with something sensual and enticing, but again, not something too restrictive or uncomfortable.
Fix your hair the way you know you like it, or that your partner will like it. Try going into the experience with no makeup and hair products, or very little of each. While you want to smell sensual for your experience, again, donât go overboard. Too much product will have you tasting like chemicals as your lover is trying to experience your body. Stick to light fragrances like essential oils, which have no alcohol in them and will therefore not produce a chemical taste on your flesh.
Take inventory of your body and whether you have any physical pain. If you have an injury or youâre experiencing mild pain, it doesnât mean you canât still enjoy the tantric experience. Where regular sex might say, âI have an injury in my left shoulder; letâs stay away from using that shoulder,â tantric sex says, âI have an injury in my left shoulder; letâs please give extra attention and care to this area.â If you or your partner have a particular pain or injury, donât leave it out of the experience, bring it in. Allow your partner to offer you gentle massage and care with respect to this part of the body.
