Chapter Eleven: The Whole Thing?

Katya

I watched Talon sleep for a while. He looked so peaceful and dare I say sweet as he slept. Like all the hard planes of his face relaxed and the warrior look he always wore was gone somehow. I did notice the smell of alcohol on him the moment he kissed me. I did not care though, as soon as his lips met mine, I knew I was lost. He kissed me in such a way that I was captivated immediately. Warmth flushed over me just like whenever he was near…only this time, it had turned into a fire. As his strong steel like arms wrapped around me, everything fell away. My torment, my worries and all of that misery just ceased to exist.

When he asked me if I wanted him, I said yes without any hesitation. Then what he did to me next would be forever imprinted into my memory. I never knew a man could please a woman with just his mouth and fingers. I had very little experience except for a few dates at University. Those were just boys that weren’t men yet and they sure did not have my pleasure in mind.

What Talon had done was to stun me, taking me to heights I had never known. I had wanted him to go further….needed him to. Then he stopped and was apologizing for doing what he did. At first, I did not understand his regret at all. I was still feeling euphoric. Then when he claimed to have taken advantage of me, I was again shocked. Men like this actually existed? With this thought, it hit me like a train. They did. Apparently, he was one of the few honest, honor bound men in the world. And I was using him, fooling him.

I rolled over onto my back and stared at the ceiling. Feeling nothing but loathing at myself. Look who was out to destroy someone? Me. A tear slipped from my eye to roll down my cheek. O was responsible for it, I told myself. She was pulling the strings and I was an unwilling puppet in her game. I felt so angry and frustrated. There had to be a way to beat her at her own game. I knew that somehow, the answer lay in why she wanted to take the Walkers down. Was it just that they were in her way? She acted like they were. But if so, why not just kill them? Or have her men kill them. She seemed to have plenty of resources according to the way she lived and the amount of men she’d hired.

Why play this dangerous nasty game with them? Not that I wanted Talon or Raven and his brothers to die. No, I did not. The question remained though, what was she really after. I tried to remember some of the things she had said. They all had a savior complex. “My men will, of course, update you on the exact nature of what you have to do, where you need to be present and who you must ensnare.
