Epilogue

Jett reclined on the porch swing, her head in Noah’s lap. It was an early spring afternoon and the birds were chattering high in the old willow tree and a cool breeze slid over her skin. A sated, happy feeling swept through her as she looked up at him and met his gaze.

“Six months ago today was our first…encounter,” Jett said and Noah laughed.

“Encounter, huh?” Noah grinned. “I guess you could call it that.”

“Yep.” Jett nodded and her hair slid across Noah’s lap. “Hard to believe it just gets better and better every time we’re together.”

“It’s not hard for me to believe.” Noah trailed his fingers down her shoulder then up the slope of one breast. He tweaked her nipple, causing her to catch her breath. “With you everything is great.”

“I think I’ve fallen for you, Noah,” Jett said quietly and his fingers stilled. “I think I fell for you the first moment I saw you on my doorstep.”

He stroked her hair from her face and was silent for a long moment. So long that Jett’s heart started to hurt.

“Let me be the first one to say it.” His voice was deep and she felt the vibration of it from where she was lying. “I want to be the first.”

“Say what?” A flicker of uneasiness went through her. She scooted up in her seat until she was sitting beside Noah rather than having her head in his lap.

“I love you, Jett.” He skimmed his fingers through the long strands of her hair as he spoke. “And I have for what seems like forever.”

Relief washed through Jett, but something more. Something strong and wonderful and powerful. “I love you, Noah.”

He kissed her then. Long, sweet, wonderful.

After they drew apart, Jett looked up at him and smiled. “I think I have something inside that needs fixing.”

“By all means.” Noah smiled in return. “Why don’t you show me?”

And she did.
