J7. Jibber the kibber, to
MM 2, 1912: 29 (5), 92 (5).
âTo lure a vessel to destruction by giving a false signal from the shoreâ. The signal, according to folklore, was tied to a horse. J8. Jim Crow
GM 1875, 771.
âA stereotype black man in a 19th-century song-and-dance actâ (dated and now offensive). The story deals with the later history of this figure. OED: 1832.
