“Tony?”

“Yes, Jitty?”

“Have you got a couple of minutes?”

“Yes, sure. Is something wrong?”

“Well, yes and no. I’m a little worried about the Wildcats. I’m sure that Mrs Flowers is doing the best she can, but I think the directors sound like a very difficult group of men. I don’t like the effect they’re having on the club and the Wildcats.”

“But what can we do about it? Jeff and I offered our help, but Madeline said she would prefer to talk to the directors herself.”

“I’d like to talk to them. I’ve been friends with Alice Brooks for fifteen years. I’m not going to sit and watch some stupid directors throw her out of the club.”

“I understand, Jitty. Listen, I’m going away on business next week until Thursday. Would you like to visit the Bango Burgers factory on Friday afternoon? There was one director that Madeline said was a very difficult man—a man called Mike Dixon. Perhaps we could talk to him.”

“Thanks a lot, Tony. Shall we meet at three o’clock outside the library in Waterbridge?”

“I’ll be there.”
