Wild Game Tourtier

A staple of the French Canadian holiday, the tourtier lends itself very well to survival. It normally consists of two to three types of ground meat in a pie shell, seasoned with dried herbs and onion.

Ingredients

Acorn flour pie shell

Two pounds of ground (or very finely diced) meat

Onion

Thyme

Preparation

Make a pie shell with your acorn flour, some water and some fat. Brown your meats with the onion and spices. Pour into pie shell and cover with a circle of pie crust. Place in your rock over and bake until pie crust is golden. Serve with a nice green salad or mashed potato and gravy.
