Willow

“I cannot believe you talked him into this.” Audrey shakes her head at me through FaceTime. “Hell, I can’t believe you even suggested it.”

My neon pink leggings are a little snugger than I’d like, but they look great under my eighties inspired mini dress. “Well, it’s happening. Besides, I didn’t call to get your opinion on our date location, I need you to tell me I look good.”

“You look great, baby sis.”

“Thank you.” I bat my lashes at my sister through the phone. “Gotta run, Atlas will be here any minute.”

“Radical. Like, totally far out.” Audrey uses her best Valley Girl voice.

“Shut up.” I playfully roll my eyes and end the call. Almost instantly, there’s a knock at my front door. As I pass myself in the mirror, I give myself a once over and say a silent mantra that this is going to be fun. That stepping out of my comfort zone to prove I’m not a total homebody loser—which I kind of am—is a good thing. Though, I’m secretly wishing we could just Netflix and chill.

When I throw the door open, my hand flies to my mouth. “Oh my God.”

“Sup?” Atlas thrusts his hand on his hip. He’s wearing a pale pink polo with the collar popped and the sleeves cut off, and the shortest pair of shorts I’ve ever seen on a man. The kind that dads in the eighties would wear with reckless abandon.

“Tell me you had those shorts in your closet already?”

“Hell no. I found them at Goodwill, The shirt, too.” I’m amazed by his commitment. “You ready to do this?”

An hour ago, I wasn’t sure. Right now, more than ever, the answer is a resounding yes. “Let’s do it.”
