"Star Spell Solange! We're not playing!" Silver snapped to her familiar child.

Watching her get frustrated due to the approaching time limit was rather refreshing, but I wasn't expecting this to be as intriguing as it was unfolding to be.

"No, go back to-" Silver began but she was suddenly cut off by the very child she was holding as she leaned her head back.

I expected her to be cut off by the loud sound of distressful crying, but instead, the little girl headbutted Silver with such force, she was falling back the next second with blood coming from her nose.

Everyone but Dimitri seemed to be frozen in place - including me - as he moved to catch Silver before he somehow managed to save Star from crashing to the floor.

"Shit! Silver? Silver?"

I wasn't going to get involved. That was what I'd mentally agreed upon when I had been forced to participate in this silly exam, but that's when I realized why the mystical child kept emphasizing moving.

Without an extra thought, the command left me in a nanosecond, "Dimitri! Move Silver and Star!"

The command was laced with authoritative magic, my incubus traits somehow activating upon mere instinct. I watched while the others looked further confused as Dimitri somehow scooped up Silver and managed to get Star to hold onto his neck before he was out of the way of the beam of red magic that came out from the clock on the wall that hung just above the chalkboard.

The others were immediately in defense mode, which should have happened earlier, in my honest opinion, but at least they were ready to protect who was of most priority.

The leader of the team is the worthiest. Thus, she’s the highest level of sacrifice.

None of them knew that every team was assigned a god for reason, and one of them was in hopes they wouldn't sacrifice their added asset, but another member. For the leader to sacrifice themselves would be to receive the ultimate reward, and in this case, it appeared as though they had just done it unexpectedly.

"Why did that beam come out of nowhere?" Wolfgang huffed while Yuriel already moved around his spot to reach where Dimitri was lowering Star to the floor so he could attend to Silver.

"Time ran out," Uzziah replied. "Could it be the beam was going to eliminate the leader of the team if we didn't think of a sacrifice?"

"Could be it," Ryuu suggested as he kept his guard up.

"Shit. Silver?"

We turned our attention to Yuriel, who was suddenly moving to do compressions on Silver as if she weren't breathing.

Wait. Why the fuck isn't she breathing?

"Silver?" Dimitri called out to her, but Uzziah was now there and tugging him away to give Yuriel more space to work as his magic flared to life and he immediately went into saving mode.

I was supposed to sit and watch, knowing exactly what was going on, but I was already standing before them and kneeling to the floor before my mind caught up.
