Cordelia, the deluge has nothing to do with you.

The doorman wants nothing to hear from you:

deliver the ice luge to the door out back.

Poor Delia of the doorbell ringing,

bells in a deluge gone blue from ringing,

bluebells are dying of water-lack.

Dear Delia, don’t bring that news to bluegrass country.

Not in blue-sky, bud-light country.

Folk like that aren’t welcomed back.

That’s Delia who sees the ice luge change.

The neighbors left a carcass hanged

on her doorbell: just step back.

Yes Delia, you know the deluge is coming,

bluebirds gone singing and not coming

back. Bluebirds dying from water-lack.

Oh Delia, no one hears the lack of singing.

No one hears your doorbell-ringing,

the deluge wants nothing to do with you.

My Cordelia, named for the sea’s daughter,

ever linked to Lear and slaughter.

You’ve seen the blue skies turn black.
